ABOUT US

The Burnside Neighborhood Association, Inc., (BNAOI) is a comunity-based, multi-faceted organization whose primary purpose is to improve the quality of life for all residents living in the Burnside area.  To do that the organization's members partner with local city, state, and county government, community residents, churches, schools, and local businesses, to develop high impact solutions to social, and economic problems facing the community.

BNAOI provides a unique opportunity through which community residents can address many neighborhood issues, such as youth employment, housing, economic development, safety, job training, educational, social and recreational programs.  To further our purposes we work to preserve the neighborhood and promote the welfare of its residents by supportive measures; whenever the integrity and quality of life of the neighborhood is threatened.

We believe that residents who live in a community are in the best postion to identify, prioritize, and carryout solutions to problems affecting them.  We take a hands-on-approach to running the organization, where the community resident's voice and opinions are important, and respected.  Founded in 2003, (BNAOI ) provides a unique vehicle through which community residents can make positive, lasting changes in the community.  By engaging them in hands-on activities such as community planning and development, community revitalization, technology, and the development and implementation of programs focused on servicing young people. 

The vision of the founders was to build a community-based organization using the expertise, knowledge, and experience of community residents, both young and old working togehter as partners to actively strengthen the community, improve its overall livability and draw them together around common interest and activities.
